Journey up Dumyat part 2
Another observation from my walk with a client that I mentioned the other week. As I was walking I needed to stop and take my inhalers and as a newly-diagnosed diabetic I also needed to make sure my blood levels weren't too low. As the walk was long and high up, I needed water and plenty of it! I couldn't have done the trip up on empty without taking in anything.
Likewise, we can't walk along our journey in our Christian faith on empty nor taking in anything. The world tells us to do things in our own strength and we kid ourselves thinking that we can. However we can't but God doesn't neglect us, He fills us with His Spirit, His living breath inside us.

Holy Spirit,
We thank You that You completely fill us so we can carry out our walk with You and carry out God's will in our lives and His will for the people in the Braes area.
We pray that You would fall afresh on us and refill us each day.
We pray that You would fall afresh on every person in this area and stir them to know more of You and Your promises.
Holy Spirit, lead us on the path of righteousness and help us to grow in godly character.
Holy Spirit, give us peace in the midst of the storms of restlessness and despair.
Draw us all together in unity, wholeness and security.
Fall afresh on us
Amen

Sun September 19th

Heavenly Father,

As we see Covid numbers high again and know of those within our Church communities who are affected, we ask You to be close to us and to help us all to deal with the impact. Let us all stay safe and act within the guidelines we have been given, even though we may be weary. We are not very good at being patient and we have been restricted for so long but, knowing You, we believe that there is a reason for this. Help us to do what is right.

We are reminded in the words of the song today, based on Psalm 139, that You are always with us and know all about us we claim that truth today and for the week ahead.

Amen.

Heavenly Father,

There are so many things to be thankful for, the autumn sunshine and the beautiful scenery around us here in the Braes, just to start with. Let us take the time to notice the amazing colours outside and be thankful that You have created them all.

In Jesus name. Amen.

O Father God, we praise you for your infinite mercy and grace to us. Before we even knew you, you loved us and provided a way to live in your family eternally through Jesus. Thank you for our freedom to access your word to learn more about you and accept the promises that you give. Whatever our circumstances, your word never fails. Help us to remember this truth.

Thu September 16th

I am fortunate to be on holiday in Gardenstown this week. This is a photo I took from our window yesterday evening.
"From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised." (Psalm 113:3).
Heavenly Father, wherever we are today, we look to You and praise You. Amen.

God, thank you for being with us right now. We confess that we don't understand why things happen the way they do. We don't understand why illness comes into our lives, but we do know that you walk every path of life with us. Remind all those known to us, who are suffering for any reason, that you are walking with them by the power of your Holy Spirit.

Thank you Father that you have told us that those who walk uprightly enter into peace.
You have said,
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Amen Lord,

May it be so.πŸ™πŸ»

Father God,
We thank you that Your Word says, β€œIn Him we live and move and have our being.”
Thank you for the breath that gives me life.
Thank you for the eyes that enable us to see Your beautiful creation in the Braes.
Thank you for the paths, and the ability to walk, run, cycle and travel by wheelchair in the Falkirk area.
We thank you, for the strength to be able to exercise.
Thank you for the gift of one more day of life!

Heavenly Father,

Each of us will have had different experiences over the last week, some positive and others less so. We know that You are with us in every experience and share in our joys and sorrows. As we spend time in worship today, we come before You and choose to bless Your name, recognising that we need You beside us every day. Continue to lead and support us in the coming days too.

Amen.

Sat September 11th

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Matthew 5:4 NIV

Father,
We think of 9/11 today and still find it difficult to understand. We pray for all the families involved in this disaster and all those locally who are mourning at this time.
In Jesus name.

Wed September 8th

Heavenly Father, we bring before you individuals who are on our hearts right now and we lay them at your Throne of Grace.

We are reminded to pray for others in our world facing challenges and difficult situations. We pray for our Christian brothers and sisters who are persecuted because they follow Jesus. Protect them as they seek to worship and serve you.

In 1 Timothy 2:1 we read
β€œI urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people...”

We pray for wisdom for world leaders in these troubled times. We pray that they will all seek to make this world a better place.
