Mon April 12th

Heavenly Father,
We praise you for Your marvellous grace that we don't deserve. We keep on tripping up, sinning and disobeying you with our words, actions and thoughts, yet you continue to pour out over us endless grace after endless grace. How great is Your loving kindness.
We seek you this day to ask You to help us in our obedience towards You and the gospel. We pray that You help us to keep trusting You in all times. May we persevere on this journey with Your Son, Jesus, and may a deepening desire to know more of Your Word grow within us.
We take this time to pray for our Muslim neighbours, here in the Braes, and those around the world as they start the month of Ramadan tomorrow. They will spend the next month trying to be more holy, fast and read more of the Koran. We pray that they would experience the truth about You, Your Son and the gospel. May they experience Your love and grace and be compelled to look to Jesus as their Saviour.
We praise You as we know that we can never do enough to be holy. We can't climb the ladder to the level of sinlessness or do certain things to minimise the separation between us and You. Only Jesus could come down and make a way for us. Our worth is not in what we own or what we do but only in the Name of Jesus - thank you.
We pray all these things in Jesus' name
Amen

Sun April 11th

Heavenly Father,

We are so grateful to live in such a beautiful part of Your creation. I never tire of watching the hills from my home, seeing the many changes in light and colours throughout the day. Too often we can take this for granted in the midst of the busyness or concerns we have. Let us take time each day to give You thanks for our surroundings as we look out, take exercise or drive around.

As restrictions have begun to be lifted, let us not forget about what we have realised is really important in life as we may be sucked back into different routines. Give us thankful hearts for all we have.

Amen.

I share this song, with the tune β€œOchils”, which I believe was written on the stave to match the outline of the hills, and has a link to Psalm 121.

To the hills I lift my eyes,
The distant hills before me;
Hills that rise to reach the skies,
And spread their glory o'er me.
Planted by omnipotent hand,
By divine appointment they stand,
To the hills I lift my eyes,
The beckoning hills before me.

Eyes may scan the dizzy height,
And human feet stand on it;
Only faith, in mystic flight,
Can see the realms beyond it.
Steeper than the mountains of time,
Higher than the loftiest climb,
O'er the hills I lift my eyes;
From thence my help is coming.

To the hills I'll turn again,
Away from earthly slumber,
There to gain the topmost plain;
May naught my way encumber.
On the highest summit I'll stand,
There to view the long-promised land;
Though my eyes look to the skies,
I lift my heart to Heaven.

Irene, I woke up during the night and couldn’t get ‘ I to the hills will lift mine eyes’... out of my mind. Thank you for this mornings affirmation. Amen πŸ™πŸ»

Thank you Lord. Amen.

That's a new hymn to me, Irene, beautiful melody and words. Thank you for sharing.

Here they are in all their glory this morning.

Thank you. That is a beautiful hymn. I remember being told that the hymn ‘ I to the hills will lift mine eye, From whence shall come my help’ was always considered rage Scottish psalm.

Heavenly Father
Thank you that we have woken up to a lovely spring morning. We remember those recently bereaved, both nationally and locally here in the Braes. We pray that You give these families comfort at this time and show them Your love.

Fri April 9th

As I see more local shops opening up I feel more optimistic about life returning to normal. However, maybe I should be looking forward to a new improved normality.
The past year has seen so much change in our lives. We have been pushed out of our comfort zones and had to adapt to learning new skills, most of which were to protect the ones we love. We have been stretched in our faith and our resources. We've been encouraged by the selflessness of strangers, drawn together to help others in need and given different paths to reach out to our community and that should not change as restrictions lift.
Father God, I thank you that you are with us in all circumstances. Thank you for opening our eyes and hearts to those who live around us and for new and renewed friendships due to lockdown. We know there has been sadness and doubt too but that you have been alongside us in our times of despair. Thank you that we can attend church physically in stages now but pray services streamed into homes will continue alongside even after all restrictions are lifted. Help us to still actively look out for our neighbours and also that we should be willing to accept help too.
In Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, I reach out to You this morning and pray for our local businesses many of whom are only just starting to function and rebuild after lockdown.
I reach out to You and pray for our children on holiday from school and for school staff. May they know rest and refreshment at this time.
I reach out to You and pray that we all have patience, consideration and resilience as restrictions slowly ease.

**Prayer for College & University Students Facing Exams**

Loving God,

We bring to you today the young people and the life-long learners of the Braes, who will be sitting college and university exams this week and in the weeks ahead.

Thank you for the complex and beautiful world we live in – and for the varied disciplines students are seeking to gain deeper knowledge in - for literature, the arts, languages, philosophy, law, economics, theology, sports and the sciences – social, natural, formal, and applied.

Lord, you have said: β€œBlessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding.” May each student have a richer experience of their chosen subject through their studies, and in doing so come to a deeper knowledge of You - the source of all wisdom.

This has been a very stressful season for students and lecturers with online learning. Thank you for your sustaining power for each one. As they approach their final exams and assignments, we ask you to give them:

β€’ Patience to work through their study plan and complete assignments.

β€’ Clarity of heart and mind to recall the important details they have learned.

β€’ Endurance when they are tired, and calmness when distressed.

β€’ Grace to focus on your resources and do their best with the help and gifts you have given them.

β€’ Wisdom to focus on what is important when answering questions.

β€’ Strength in their spirit as they study – and when under pressure during the exam.

β€’ Peace as they sit their tests. And peace to leave with you how the exam went - knowing that nothing is final, because you are the God of the second chance and who makes all things new.

Above all, may each one will be filled with the joy of your presence, and have success in all their endeavours.

In Jesus name, Amen

Father God,
As we carry on the celebration of your resurrection and the hope that it's given us, we pray that You fill us again with the power that raised Your Son to life; the power to love those we love and those we struggle to love; the power to heal; the power to bring peace to all around us
May we never stop reflecting on what Your Son Jesus' death on the cross and his resurrection means for us personally

Sun April 4th

He is risen! Hallelujah!

Heavenly Father,

On this most special and amazing day, we give thanks and bring our praise to You for what happened so many years ago. The impact on humanity for eternity can never be fully appreciated but we thank You that because You sent Your Son to the cross to die for our sins then brought Him to life again, we are forgiven and can look forward to eternal life with You.

Let us keep the rejoicing of this day in our hearts throughout the year ahead and help us to find ways of spreading this good news to others through the Braes.

Amen.
