The devotional from Chris Tiegreen's The One Year Hearing His Voice devotional the other day was really good, based on the famous story of Jeremiah and the potter's house.
Scripture- 'Go down to the potter's house, and there I will give you my message' Jeremiah 18:2 (NIV)
Quote from main body of the devotional "God had a word for Jeremiah, but He wouldn't simply tell it to him. He wanted to show it to him. It was a visual message, an illustration from everyday life...that would play out before his eyes...As Jeremiah watched the potter reshape a marred pot into another form, he heard the message clearly...
God knows how to illustrate His points in our lives too, but we need to learn how to "go down to the potter's house " to get them. In other words, we need to keep our eyes and ears open for the pictures He wants to show us...He gives us insights and understanding that we would not have perceived if we were simply listening for words"
Father God, speak to us in the events of this day and every day this week. Teach us something new. Show us a parable of Your Kingdom as we open our eyes and ears to Your illustrations. Speak to us through Your words, silence, the world and people around us and through illustrations from everyday life. Speak, Lord, for your servants are listening. Help us to process what You are saying to us and put this into action.
Amen

Gracious God,
We know that your love is infinite and that you care about all areas of our life. In this time of economic insecurity, help us to trust that all our security is in you. Keep us mindful that you always have and always will provide for our needs. Apart from you we can do nothing.
Merciful God, we remember each person in the Braes community who are facing challenges in paying for food, gas, and electricity with rising prices. We hear of some parents going without a meal so their children can eat.
Give all in authority and government wisdom and compassion to support and guide us and the world through this difficult time. Thank you for the start of assistance by government to help meet energy costs – we pray for this to be extended further.
We pray for Braes Storehouse, Falkirk Foodbank, community groceries, and church care networks who are providing help to those who can least afford to eat.
May we as your church respond to the command of Jesus to “love our neighbour” through acts of mercy and kindness, so that the hope and peace of God will be known by all.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.

Good morning, Lord!
Today's a new day, a chance for a new start. Yesterday is gone and with it any regrets, mistakes, or failures I may have experienced.
It's a good day to be glad and give thanks, and I do, Lord.
Thank you for today, a new opportunity to love, give, and be all that you want me to be.
Amen. 🙏🏻

Heavenly Father,
We praise you this morning for your wonderful work of creation and especially for creating us, humankind, the pinnacle of your creative work. We thank you for the amazing intricacies of bodies and minds which have been made by your hand. But in this Mental Health Awareness Week, we remember with compassion our friends in the Braes area who are suffering from illnesses of the mind and who need your loving care.
Thank-you, Lord, that nothing is too hard for you, and that you can heal all illnesses and difficulties. So we lift to you our friends and ask for healing of the mind. We ask too that they will know you, the God of all comfort, and will experience your presence with them as they journey through their hard experience.
Father, we pray for all those professionals who are helping them. Please give doctors and counsellors great wisdom and knowledge as they seek to understand and help. Please give family and friends patience and love as they come alongside and care for those who are suffering.
Thank-you, Father, that you are the Great Counsellor and know the deepest thoughts and feelings of our hearts. Please bless and help today our friends in the Braes with mental health issues.
Amen

Amen. The creation part of my reading this morning and I was struck when the writer was extolling the wonder of God breathing on man to give him life and how man is His only creature that reasons and speaks. It is indeed a wonderful miracle. X

**Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love...live at peace with everyone. **Romans 12:9-18 (It's a long portion of Scripture so if you have time, read the whole thing yourself!)
Today, I'll be using another prayer from that time I went to Strictly Come Praying as a teen and this prayer is praying for ourselves. (I've changed it from first person to third person for the sake of this Facebook group)
Heavenly Father, we want to pray for ourselves, (say your name out loud), teach us to have a love which is sincere, to hate evil and to hold on to good things. Teach us to show love by putting others first. Bless us and keep us serving you, no matter what the circumstances. Help us to realise that we have so much, and so to be generous to others.
Father make us the sort of people who are able to stand with friends and be there for them in good times and in bad - and to bring harmony to situations.
Protect us from having a proud spirit. Make us someone who others look at and see the fruit of your Spirit shining through.
Amen

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to bring our praises to You for all that we have experienced in the past week. We will have gone through many emotions because of challenges, worries and joys. Only You know everything about us and what we have faced. We thank You that we have been able to turn to You and that You have listened to our petitions.
Accept our praise today.
Amen.
Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God almighty.
Early in the morning my song shall rise to thee.
Holy. holy, holy,
Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity.
Holy, holy, holy
Lord God almighty
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy
Merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity.

Lord God, thank you for the democracy in this country. Thank you that we had the chance to vote for our local area councillors yesterday. We pray for all those appointed who make decisions for the wellbeing of their constituents.
1 Timothy chapter 2 verse 1-6
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— **2 **for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. **3 **This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, **4 **who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. **5 **For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, **6 **who gave himself as a ransom for all people.
