Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ.
Philippians 3:17-18 NLT

It’s good to follow the example of other Christians. I wonder who has inspired you, and I encourage you to keep actively remembering and thanking God for their example.

But this works in the other direction as well.

People are looking at you and me, whether we like it or not. We too are setting an example of what it means to follow Jesus and we need to make sure that it’s a good one.

Father, help us to be good examples of what it means to follow Jesus by the Holy Spirit.

Amen πŸ’ž

So true

Tue August 3rd

Our Father,
As this summer seems to be passing so quickly, we call to mind with sadness that verse in your Word that says β€œthe summer has ended and we are not saved.”
Lord, we long that this will not be the case for our friends and neighbours in the Braes who still don’t know you.
Lord, we cry to you for every one of them, that your Spirit will be speaking to them right now and drawing them to follow you.
We pray that this summer will be the beginning of a great gathering in of people from the Braes, of men and women, boys and girls, to become your followers.
We ask this in Jesus’ name.
Amen
Here is a song about revival coming to a city, but let’s make it about a place called Braes: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgukTjyCMX8

This word was the Greek word for the day in my calendar today and I thought it was interesting where it explained the Greek tense here "does not denote a single, one-time sowing, rather, it describes a constant, steady, perpetual sowing of seed"

Father God,
We pray that You would walk with us, guide us, work through us as we sow seeds of truth, seeds of Your gospel and seeds of Your redeeming perfect love to those around us this week in the Braes area and those in Falkirk and beyond.

We pray that seeds would be sown into children, teenagers, working-age people and those who have retired. We pray that seeds would be sown through our words and actions as well as the words and actions of the churches in the Braes area.

We pray that people would be open and accepting of our sowing and the seeds would blossom into a genuine and personal relationship full of the Spirit and rooted in Christ.

We pray that as we sow, sow, sow that You, Father God, would reap, reap, reap a bountiful harvest in this Braes area for Your Kingdom, Your glory and renown.

In Your precious Name,
Amen

Father God,
Thank you for another day filled with many blessings. We have so much to be thankful for here in the Braes and yet it's so easy to forget and complain about little things. Sorry for doing this again and again, help us to remember that You will always provide us with everything we need.
In Jesus name. Amen.

Sun August 1st

I saw this song shared by someone I know earlier this week and listened to it several times. The words that struck me most were these:

You gently call me into Your presence
Guiding me by Your Holy Spirit.
Teach me dear Lord
To live all of my life through Your eyes.

Thank You, Heavenly Father, that You call us gently into Your presence through Your Holy Spirit. Help us each day to listen for Him speaking to us either in the moments of stillness we spend in prayer or at other times, sometimes in unexpected places.

Teach us always to live our lives through Your eyes and mould us into what You need us to be. Let us make good choices in the way we live, living as good examples of You for those around us in this area so that we never disappoint or dishonour You. Help us always to strive to be the best we can be with Your guidance and help.

Amen.

Father God, we thank you that we can talk to you anytime night or day. You are so willing to help those who are trying to make sense of events happening in their lives. We ask you to be close to those who are grieving over deaths of loved ones, comfort them. For those who are struggling with debts and loss of income, guide them towards help locally through church or government departments.
We thank you for all church plans organised for summer activities and praise you for all the good weather we've had. Bless all who will attend these programmes especially the children. We also thank you for the removal of some covid-19 restrictions happening soon, leading us back to meeting together in larger groups.
1 John 5:14-15
14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears usβ€”whatever we askβ€”we know that we have what we asked of him.

I need Thee every hour
Most gracious Lord
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford

I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee

I need Thee every hour
Stay Thou nearby
Temptations lose their power
When Thou art nigh

I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee

I need Thee every hour
In joy or pain
Come quickly and abide
Or life is vain

I need Thee, O I need Thee
Every hour I need Thee
O bless me now, my Savior
I come to Thee.

Our Father,
As we hear of so many accidents taking place in rivers and lochs and seaside places on these hot days, we pray for safety for all our friends and neighbours in the Braes as they go swimming either locally or on holiday.
We thank you, Lord, that you have created beautiful places for us to enjoy and we praise you that you have given us the gift of swimming, to exercise our bodies and relax our minds, but we pray that you will also keep your watchful eye on the children, young people and adults who swim outdoors. Lord, will you keep them safe and help them to be wise in choosing where and when to swim.
Lord, we pray for the families of those who have lost their lives in recent days through swimming accidents. Lord, please comfort them as only you can and bring peace to anguished hearts.
Amen

Sun July 25th

Heavenly Father,

We praise You today for all that You have done for us, for the sacrifice You made by sending Your Son Jesus to live on earth then to die on the cross. Thank You that You love us so much and may we be able to say today, β€œFather, not my will but Yours be done!”.

Amen

"Your Will Be Done"

Your will be done, my God and Father
As in heaven, so on earth.
My heart is drawn to self-exalting
Help me seek Your kingdom first.
As Jesus walked, so I shall walk
Held by Your same unchanging love.
Be still my soul, O lift your voice and pray:
'Father, not my will but Yours be done.'

How in that Garden he persisted
I may never fully know.
The fearful weight of true obedience
It was held by him alone.
What wondrous faith, to bear that cross!
To bear my sin, what wondrous love!
My hope was sure, when there my Saviour prayed:
'Father, not my will but Yours be done.'

When I am lost, when I am broken
In the night of fear and doubt,
Still I will trust in my good Father,
Yes, to one great King I bow!
As Jesus rose, so I shall rise
In ransomed glory at the throne.
My heart restored,
With all your saints I sing:
'Father, not my will but Yours be done! '

As we go forth, our God and Father
Lead us daily in the fight,
That all the world might see Your glory
And Your Name be lifted high,
And in this Name we overcome
For You shall see us safely home.
Now as your church, we lift our voice and pray:
'Father, not my will but Yours be done! '

Mon July 26th

Happy Monday to you all. I find it amusing when the media talk about events this year e.g. Olympics saying this can bring communities together, we need something to lift our spirits, we need hope or something to look forward to. There is some truth in that, I'm joyful this morning watching GB starting to win gold medals. Yet as Christians we know that it's only in Jesus where true hope, joy and community can be found

Father God, we want to thank You for the hope that we have from You anchoring our souls and the joy that gives us strength. We pray that You would help us as we display to those around us, through our words and actions, that true hope, true joy, true love and true strength can be found in Jesus. We pray that this true hope, true joy, true love and true strength will empower and sustain us this week

We thank You that we are able to come together as a church on Sundays to worship You. We pray that we would be intentional and strive to be a church of Your people, of one heart and mind like we see in Acts. Help us as we deepen the sense of true community between our brothers and sisters

We thank You that we do have something to look forward to: Your second coming. Raise our excitement and expectation as we see Your power being released throughout the world today and as we wait to be face to face with Love Himself

Amen
