Holiday Club 2009 - Jungle Journey

Well, it’s fair to say that approximately 100 children and around 80 adult helpers are testament to the success of the Holiday Club this year! The theme was Jungle Journey and what a journey it was! The club was in the evenings from 6.15 to 7.45 with a family service on the Sunday followed by a Jungle Feast (BBQ attended by over 200 people!)
This year more than any before, a good number of the congregation got involved and it became something that the whole congregation felt a part of. The art group did the decorations, a group did the drama, the social committee organised the BBQ, the congregation helped at the craft night, a team organised the final service and then there were almost as many adult and teenager helpers as children ! And through it all everyone had a whale (no wait, that would be if it was set in the sea) had a rip-roaring time!
The theme was around the fact that we’re all lost until we are saved by Jesus – this was the clear common theme that shone through the talks given to the children, the memory verses, the songs, the drama and the closing service.
The key aim of the Holiday Clubs are for the children to have fun learning about Jesus. This year, what was fantastic was that there were a good number of children who came who don’t go to church and then a significant number of them and their families came to the final service. We pray that they’ll join a youth group or start coming to the services regularly. We’ll never know the impact that the Holiday Clubs have, but, if one person is converted and is saved for the Kingdom, then it’s all worth it!
It’s also worth noting that many adult friendships have grown out of helping in the Holiday Club and that can only help the Church (the people) and makes the congregation grow! If you want to help next year, we promise that you’ll enjoy it, that you’ll feel great that you’ve got involved and that you’ll be eager to help again.
Finally, a big thanks to all the congregation for their help and support.
