Looking Forward, Building Faith Programme
Introduction

What do we think about when we come to Brightons Parish Church? Some immediately think of the beautiful building, of services of worship, of the sound of hymns being sung or even just a wedding couple smiling on the steps of the church. It is all of these things and more.

What is the Church?

When people talk of "the church", many think of the building, of the halls or even of the manse. The buildings, however, are not the most important parts.

People are the most important part of the church because, without people, the buildings would be empty and the Church would not be able to contribute to an ongoing work in the community or to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ.

There is a lot of work to be done and the Minister cannot do this on his own, even with the help of the Session and Deacons' Court.

Our church will only be truly successful when we all do our bit and we all work together. This is why we are Looking Forward, Building Faith.

This is why our church needs you.

Can you spare a little time to build on the work being carried out in Brightons Parish Church, in the community and beyond?

Do you know the different organisations, groups and activities that rely on us for help and support...? No...? Just have a look...

Giving of time, talents and money displays our praise and thanksgiving for the gospel we have received.

Our giving of time on a Sunday to be with God, to sing His praise, to hear His Word, is where we start.

Our giving of time and talents assists our congregation in its service to the community, caring for those who are most vulnerable in our society.

Our giving of time and talents can help children and young people grow in the Christian faith.

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead - James 2:17

You can help by looking at the different groups that use our church and by offering to share your skills and talents with them. You can be a part of it by helping with or attending:

WorshipReading from the Bible or leading prayers, welcoming at the door on a Sunday
Sunday School / Youth GroupsCrèche, Sunday School, Impact, Boys' and Girls' Brigades
Mission and Wider ChurchOutreach, Prayer Group, Fellowship Groups, Friends of Jesus, The Guild, Summer Club, Christian Aid, Befriending Group, Tea and coffee rota, Bright Lights, Flower rota, Flower distribution, The Cross
MusicMusic for Sunday Schools, Services, Youth Services, Choir, Praise Group, Praise Band
Practical SkillsGardening, Building Maintenance, Cleaning, Audio Visual Systems, Web Site, IT, Hospital Transport

Our giving of money helps maintain the place where we worship: a place of beauty and memory, a place of peace and a place to glorify our Lord God.

Our giving of money helps provide resources for Christian education in our own congregation and throughout the Church of Scotland - and beyond.

You can help by...
Ways to give...

Remember - Gift Aid is good news.

If you give by any of these means and you are a tax payer - even if you only pay tax on your pension - then you could make your offering worth even more by giving us the gift of your signature on a Gift Aid Declaration Form.

What Can You Do...?

Everyone has something to offer. The Apostle Paul recognised this when he described the body as being of many parts, all of which are essential to the whole.

Our Church needs a large team of people willing to participate in the life of the church to ensure all runs smoothly, enriching our life together, sharing, strengthening and building our faith together in God's service.

What Have We Missed?

Have we missed the one thing that you would like to help with? If we have then let us know! When faith comes to life all things are made new and nothing is impossible...
